Work shop / at ISSP [Latvia]

8/4-19まで、東川町より派遣頂きラトビア、ISSPのTaiyo Onorato氏のWSに参加し、制作と発表を行います。リトアニアにも立ち寄り、バルトの現代写真、アートシーンなどリサーチします。
I’m going to join the Taiyo Onorato work shop at ISSP in Latvia from 4th to 19th Aug. Finally, I could get free time to focus on making my works and presenting group exhibition. Also I will visit Lithuania to research contemporary photo and art scene. I’m grateful to the Higashikawa International Photo Festival, my colleagues, also my assistant Etsuko Yamaoka, and all!

サイアノタイプ（日光写真）のワークショップ「土地の記憶を見つめる」
〜土地にまつわる思い出を感光する〜
サイアノタイプは、写真の古典技法の一つと言われており、青色の濃淡で像が現れます。印画紙の上に物を置くことで、光に当たらなかった箇所は白く、当たった部分は青くなります。思い出の品や、草花に光を当てて影を撮影し、光の画を作ります。同時にピンホールカメラの手作り体験によって、楽しみながらカメラの仕組みを学べます。親子連れでも楽しめるワークショップです。
持参するもの：思い出の品等（7cm x 10cmの印画紙に乗るもの 例：ボタン、鍵等 ）

授業での上映用に、チェコ・ヌーヴェルバークの代表作「火葬人」日本語字幕版（非売品）を、翻訳された阿部賢一先生よりお借りできました。少し前に富山県立近代美術館で特別上映された貴重な映画です。

I will have the course of lecture at Osaka University of Arts and Kyoto University of Art and Design from this April. I will take charge of Theory of Photography and Image at OUA, Writing for the Web at KUAD.
Professor Abe kindly lent us the “Spalovač Mrtvol” a masterpiece of Czech nouvelle vague film, a Japanese subtitle version of himself. I’m deeply grateful to professors and colleagues for their generous support.

The series works “Shadow in the House” are photographed with providing shadow indoors of old residences which have complex history. They are locating in Prague, Czech and in Yamatokoriyama, Nara, Japan. Both two houses have been taken over by multilayer owners, and at present, they are opened as public facilities.
The shadow, according to psychological view, is inner someone else recognized as a projection of oneself. Plato assumes what we see in reality is no more than a shadow of idea. I consider about the layered memories by means of long exposure photographing technique, imprinting shadow to a photograph film, and try to present the relationship between individual and society, memory and record.

[展覧会概要]
ブルームギャラリーでは、大坪晶と西村勇人の展覧会を開催します。 大坪は、心理学や哲学からの考察を基盤として、個と社会的記憶のつながりを探求する制作を試みてきました。西村は、自然や生命に潜む法則の探求の過程とそこから生まれる知見から想像を膨らませて制作に取り組んできました。 両者は背景を異にしつつも、写真というメディウムをベースとして制作意図やテーマにより技法を変え、ときに実験的な制作を試みてきたという共通点があります。本展では、両者が互いに照射しあい、多面的に人間存在を考察する場とします。
また会期中は様々な分野の専門家の方々をお招きし、レクチャーやクロストークを開催するなど、学際的な場の創出を試みます。ご高覧いただくとともに、どうぞ周知ご協力を頂きますようお願い申し上げます。

この度、Spectrum 大坪晶×西村勇人 作品展に参加します。
