11月24日(土)より大坪晶「Shadow in theHouse」を開催します。
昨年に続き2回目の個展となる本展では、これまで発表してきた《Shadow in the House》プロジェクトの写真作品に加え、
新作の映像作品やアメリカ公文書館でのリサーチで得た記録写真を含む複合的なインスタレーションを展開します。

《Shadow in the House》シリーズは、時代の変遷とともに所有者が入れ替わり、多層的な記憶を持つ家の室内空間を被写体としています。
室内に残る歴史の記録であると同時に、ダンサーが動いた身体の軌跡を長時間露光撮影によって「おぼろげな影」として写し込むことで、何かの気配や人がそこにいた痕跡を想像させます。
それは、複数の住人の記憶が多重露光的に重なり合い、もはや明確な像を結ぶことのできない記憶の忘却を指し示すとともに、それでもなお困難な想起へと開かれた通路でもあります。「住宅」という私的空間から大文字の「歴史」や異文化の接触を捉え直す視座を開くとともに、接収の実態や生活様式の変遷が今日の私たちの文化や精神性に与えた影響について考える機会とします。

About the exhibition
The Japan Photo Award is the largest independent photography award in Japan, established by EINSTEIN STUDIO with the aim of showing new Japanese talent to the world. NEW JAPAN PHOTO is a photo catalogue of emerging Japanese photographers first published in 2016, it has been published twice a year since then. The catalogue was made to connect the artists with gallerists, curators, and art fans. A selection of works from the catalogues will be presented in this exhibition.

大坪晶の写真作品《Shadow in the House》シリーズは、時代の変遷とともに所有者が入れ替わり、多層的な記憶を持つ家の室内空間を被写体としています。室内に残る歴史の記録であると同時に、ダンサーが動いた身体の軌跡を長時間露光撮影によって「おぼろげな影」として写し込むことで、何かの気配や人がそこにいた痕跡を想像させます。それは、複数の住人の記憶が多重露光的に重なり合い、もはや明確な像を結ぶことのできない記憶の忘却を指し示すとともに、それでもなお困難な想起へと開かれた通路でもあります。大坪は近年、日本各地に現存する「接収住宅」(第二次世界大戦後の GHQ による占領期に、高級将校とその家族の住居として使用するため、強制的に接収された個人邸宅)を対象とし、精力的なリサーチと撮影を続けています。撮影場所の選定にあたっては、建築史や都市史研究者から提供を受けた論文や資料を参照するとともに、「接収住宅」の所有者の遺族や管理者への聞き取りを行っています。展覧会は、写真作品《Shadow in the House》とともに、関連資料、資料に基づいた作品、批評テクストからなる複合的なインスタレーションとして構成します。これらを通して、「住宅」という私的空間から大文字の「歴史」や異文化の接触を捉え直す視座を開くとともに、接収の実態や生活様式の変遷が今日の私たちの文化や精神性に与えた影響についても考える機会とします。また、会期中には、都市史研究者の村上しほり氏と、写真史・視覚文化研究者の林田新氏をお招きしたシンポジウムを開催いたします。

About the exhibition
Akira Otsubo, has been presenting works by two or group show, now opens a solo show here at Bloom Gallery. This time, along with the successive collage and photo works, she displays installation works composed with photo and object materials collected in and oversea countries. At showroom, 3 large-sized portrait photo collage works, once displayed at this year’s Emon Award Grand Prize Exhibition in Tokyo, make the debut in Kansai area.
It is said that in case one recalls a past experience, its memory data is not always stored in brain, but that every time one recalls, a connection of neuron is newly formed and the memory is re-fixed. As indicated in the show title “Remembrance of Names”, this time, Akira Otsubo tackles to dissolve record/photograph and reorganize them in space on a key word ‘Pictorial Dictionary Proper Noun’. Appreciators will surely sense her aggressive attitude to capture and depict a place where history and personal memory intersect.
During the period, Tsuneo Tachibana, photographer and photo researcher, will be invited and hold a talk show with a theme of “Word and Photography”.

The “Shadow in the Mirror” “Shadow in the House” are appeared with a text of author Katja Petrowskaja on MJ Magazine published by National Theater am Max-Joseph-Platz in Munich. Petrowskaja depicts personal memory buried among political and historical situation in Ukraine with a lyrical expression. Her text resonates in sprit with the “Shadow” series.

写真作品 Shadow in the Mirror , Shadow in the House がミュンヘンの国立オペラ劇場発行のMax Joseph Magazineにウクライナ出身、ドイツ在住の小説家Katja Petrowskajaのテキストとともに掲載されています。Petrowskajaさんは政治(歴史)の背後に失われた個人の記憶を叙情的に記しており、それはShadow シリーズのテーマと共鳴するものです。
